Prof. Sylvia Mech­sner — spe­cial­ist in gyne­col­o­gy and obstet­rics Char­ité Berlin 23 Jahre Erfahrung

Born in Rein­bek in 1972, Sylvia Mech­sner grew up near Ham­burg. After grad­u­at­ing from high school in 1991, she did a free social year in Berlin and began study­ing human med­i­cine at the Free Uni­ver­si­ty of Berlin in 1992. After com­plet­ing her Physikum, she wrote her dis­ser­ta­tion at the Insti­tute for Bio­chem­istry at the Free Uni­ver­si­ty of Berlin. In 2001 Mech­sner com­plet­ed her spe­cial­ist training. 

She has been employed at the Clin­ic for Gyne­col­o­gy, Char­ité, since 2001, where she cur­rent­ly works as a senior physi­cian at the Vir­chow-Klinikum cam­pus. She has head­ed the Charité’s endometrio­sis research lab­o­ra­to­ry since 2005, and the endometrio­sis cen­ter since 2014.

In 2010 she com­plet­ed her habil­i­ta­tion in the field of endometrio­sis on the sub­ject of “Endometrio­sis, the mis­un­der­stood gyne­co­log­i­cal prob­lem — inves­ti­ga­tions into the patho­gen­e­sis and devel­op­ment of pain”. In 2019 she was appoint­ed pro­fes­sor for endometrio­sis research. 

Prof. Dr. Mech­sner leads many research projects and clin­i­cal stud­ies on the patho­gen­e­sis and pain mech­a­nisms of endometrio­sis. She pub­lished a book on this sub­ject in 2021:

Sylvia Mech­sner is mar­ried and has three children.
